Gain the essential knowledge required to apply for a Scottish personal alcohol licence

Any business licensed to sell alcohol, including small pubs, retailers, large night clubs, cafés, restaurants, hotels and sports facilities, is required by law to have at least one personal licence holder.  A personal licence allows the holder to authorise and supervise the sale of alcohol.

A personal licence is also needed to apply to become a designated premises manager (DPM). Licensed premises can have more than one personal licence holder.

To become a personal licence holder, an individual must obtain a personal licence holder qualification. In addition, personal licence holders must complete refresher training every 5 years and must renew their personal licence every 10 years.
